💜 Every Day, 15 Women Are Killed in South Africa. And Still, We’re Expected to Carry On.

On 21 November 2025, women across South Africa will pause.

We’ll stop working.

We’ll stop spending.

We’ll stop carrying the weight of a nation that too often forgets how much we hold together.

The G20 Women’s Shutdown, led by Women for Change SA, is not a protest of noise - it’s a protest of presence. A silent standstill. A reminder that behind every statistic is a woman whose life was cut short too soon.

Because the truth is devastating:

💔 5,578 women and 1,656 children were killed in South Africa last year - femicide rising by a staggering 33.8%.

💔 42,569 rape cases were reported, yet it’s estimated that 95% of rape cases go unreported.

These aren’t numbers.

They’re neighbours. Sisters. Friends. Mothers. Colleagues.

Women who should still be here.

So on Friday, 21 November, we will pause too.

The BlinkSilk website will not accept orders.

Our home page will turn purple - a small but visible act of solidarity.

Because beauty, to us, has never been just about appearance.

It’s about presence.

It’s about resilience.

It’s about the power to show up - and the courage to stop when standing still becomes a statement.

At BlinkSilk, we believe in beauty with purpose -

the kind that makes space for softness and strength, truth and action.

So on that day, while the world quiets, we’ll be honoring the women who can no longer speak, and standing fiercely with the ones who still can.
